How to Overcome the Planning Fallacy
We can't overestimate the time it will take, and then expect that it won't fall victim to Parkinson's Law. Too often, we're too close to a project or an initiative to appropriately estimate how long it will takeor how much it will cost. We need either get an outside perspective or take an outside perspective ourselves. The outside view is more likely to produce accurate forecasts and less likely to deliver highly unrealistic ones.
