What Is the Point of Arminius' Theology?

Arminius said that god decides in advance to give grace to those he already knows will not resist when the time comes. In other words, god is planning out his own actions by taking into account what people will freely do in the future. Arminius went so far as to say that god's rights do not extend over them. He wanted to reassure the faithful that they could be certain of their own salvation.
