My Brother, I Miss Him Every Day

My brother Daryl went to Mexico for a summer and came back skeletal with an addiction. He was found dead in his parents' spare room after overdosing on methadone. This story occurred during the 2017 Christmas holiday. The call that spawned this mess started like almost any other. A man asked what state I was from, then said he lived in that state. Before I knew it we were discussing our hometowns and he turned out to live just a town over from mine.
