The world health assembly adopted a resolution for the world wide eradication of poleo in 19 88. Since then, wild poleovirus cases have decreased by over 99 % global. The last reported case of paralytic poleo in canada was in 19 95 and was related to the oral vaccine. It's really just what happens when you have low vaccination coverage. If there's good herd immunity, we are protected against both vaccine derived and wild poleo viruses.
