I can tell there's a point when i know i've got a song in essence, but it might take quite a long time to finish it off. It doesn't want to be like pulling a cat out of an exhaust pipe. Sometimes you can actually graft one song on to another em. David rawlings is good at that, fine bits of songs and stick em together. Isectually, it's good if it flows, good if it sings naturally. And who knowsi, you know, it's like tuning a radio in in the old days when radios have dials,. or it's a phase of the moon, or what it is - your reception is clear and stuff comes
