Is There a Future for Machine Learning?
It's entirely conceivable, especially with modern day language model technology that there could be actors out there who could deliberately try to spread misinformation or disinformation. It does feel like it could be a big problem. I'm not sure exactly of what's best to counteract those kinds of influences just that it does seem like as models get better and better, they will be more able to subtly influence us. We need some kind of defense layer, like you could imagine something that's identifying how much optimization pressure has been put into something.
