Is the Supreme Court a Bulwark of Personal Liberties?

i don't have much hope in the supreme court as a bulwark of personal liberties. But at the same time, i was surprised to see that consistent array of lower courts come out really swinging. I think we tend to underplay how much of a purpose or value it gives to educated, urban neurotic people to live in this state of fear and anxiety. This is giving them away to externalize their mental disquiet. To take that away from them, you're going to give them something else to be in a state of apoplexy about.
