The Contempt of Cities
In vancouver, forty five per cent of the residents grow some of their own food. I think that being conscious of where our food comes from and who grows it is something that all of us can do and must do. Certainly, if everybody decided to move out of our cities, it would be a disaster. That's not what i advocate. But just realizing at the the kind of contempt that many oben dwellers have had for rural areas and the people who live in them...that kind of contempt is suicidal for people who live in cities....
