The Importance of Free Will
In Pelagius' view, humanity was not forever defiled by the actions of Adam. Each human began with a clean slate and a robust power of moral choice. For Augustine, who believed that humanity was forever tainted with original sin, unbaptized infants were indeed condemned to hellfire.
