When artists make music out of their suffering, they're first trying to minister to their own wounds. As you're writing and singing to be a source of healing for your own wounds, it bleeds out into the wounds of the audience. The audience connects with us through our shared experience of suffering. And as that happens, bro, lives are changed and they are. This is why our favorite artist, something happens to them. Because I'm connected to them in a way that I can't even explain.
