Treat People the Way You Want to Be Transcribed
The platinum rule is just saying that if you are in an interaction with someone, you've voluntarily willingly gone into this interaction. To figure out how to interact with a person selling stuff is standing behind the cash register. Treat them the way you'd want to be treated in that situation. Some people have the idea that if they're the customer or something, that somehow or other, they're paying for a service and therefore what they've got before them is a servant.
