The Role of Relics in Exorcism
The Catholic Church derives its use of relics from scripture and sacred tradition. In the New Testament in Matthew chapter 9 we hear about a woman being healed of her hemorrhage simply by touching the hem of Jesus' cloak. Another example can be found in Acts chapter 19 when clothing or fabrics touched by the apostle Paul were applied to the sick. Even after their deaths, countless miracles have been occasioned by the saints in the mere presence of their relics. God looks on the saints as a proud parent looks upon his children. He wants to draw our attention to the saints as models and intercessors.
