Lifting barefoot is not going to be for everybody, especially when it comes to 1RMs. It doesn't have to be squats that feed well into your mechanics and you're anatomically built. I think the big thing with training barefoot is that it can be super beneficial. You need to gradually expose yourself to the stress of wearing a barefoot style like minimalist shoes here and there.
