In the 18th century they're creating this fantasy about Shakespeare, which is why they can forge him so easily. I mean this is also the century inevitably we come back to it, where composers like Handel for example are not caring a jot about originality. But then he's also the first individual musician to be given a statue in Westminster Abbey and therefore he's the individual artist. Yes there is something there, but the fantasy about Handel means that you have to obliterate most of his works for a start.
