John macafy had a very abusive father, who ultimately committed suicide in john was 15. He spent his childhood trying to second guess his father's facial expressions and the sound his father's shoes made when they crossed the hallway on a particular night. But i think it all came from that relationship with his father, which was a huge under pinning of the john macafy persona.
