The shelf in ipars 15, it's a window manager that lets you switch between windows. It comes up by default when you open an ap on your eye pad that has multiple windows already open. And the shelf is literally like a row of window thumb nails. i think apl designed this feature for a very specific reason to make it easy for you to switch between multiple windows when you have multiple windows open.
