The Tree Imagery of Jesse

David is the root of Jesse, meaning he's the divine source of Jesse, but he's also the branch. In Psalm one, who is the righteous man? Well, they are like chaff, which the wind blows away. So you have these two images of nature set up to contrast the righteous man with the wicked. Same thing or similar thing happens here in the last words of David because he's just been talking about the Messiah and he's like rain,. He's like light, he's like grass, he’s like all of these images of life.
