The Importance of Preserving Wild Animals

Long termism is a way of looking at the world, and how it will affect us in the long run. If you focus on short-term outcomes then wild animal welfare may not be worth prioritising. People often confuse aesthetics and ethics - something can be beautiful to humans but that doesn't mean it's good for animals. The first thing people should do if they care about the long term future is implicitly value all lives so that we don't end up with non human patients who have no capacity to suffer. And there are probably two goals: To prioritize wild animal welfare or to prioritise other issues such as improving democratic process.
