We think that that's the hook that these mosquitoes use to recognize us. So i guess there are some obvious applications for this work. If we know exactly the pattern of activity that's driving them to humans, then you could screen through libraries of hundreds of thousands of chemicals for repellents that somehow scramble or block those patterns of activity.
