The Italian Renaissance

In the fifteenth century a phenomenon occurred, normally known as the italian renaissance. Larenzo valla wanted to rescue ancient classical texts from what they regarded as the patena of the ages. For various reasons, partly because they were literary scholars fascinated by masterpieces. Partly because i think they were grammarians and theologians by nature - interested in thevulgaris of language. But also, and this has to be stressed, many of them thought that what these authors said was true and what the mediaeval author said was on the whole false.
