The Importance of Individualism in a Capitalist Society
How important is individualism by contrast to settler colonial logic and what does that mean for the way in which the neoliberal state envisions successful aging? Yeah, I think individualism is at the crux of everything in a settler capitalist society. There was a real turn, you know, emerging around the whole kind of discourse of self care - '60 is the new 40' And while a lot of that is certainly positive, I think the other piece of it is that the process of aging well was made an individual choice.
