Long hours do cause fatigue, both physical and mental. It's particularly pronounced if it's a big life change kind of shifting into that everyday habit. So burnout can happen pretty fast and is projected into all areas of life. We expect positive career outcomes in terms of higher salary or intrinsic rewards but long term this isn't emotionally or psychologically sustainable.
