"I grew up in Upton Park, Forest Gate, from the corner from West down the middle ground amongst as you can imagine deep seated racism and bigotry," he says. "We learned a lot about how to survive. How to hustle. Is that the right word I really want to use? How to be canny? How to find the holes? Find the spaces." He admits being dyslexic made him have to work hard on everybody else.
