The Two Presidents Who Didn't Pull It Off
David Frum: Under George W. Bush, fiscally conservative came to mean anti-tax. He says Republicans of our era consider a balanced budget entirely secondary to securing lower taxes. If you can grow the economy at 4% indefinitely, it will outpace the speed of the debt, he says. Frum: But doing that for a prolonged period of time is exceedingly unlikely.
