Hanger 18 was really Hanger 23, because that's where all the back engineering took place. Professor Robert Spencer Carr in Florida got all these little stories from retirees that had worked there. He started talking about it and it was picked up by the mainstream news. It wasn't until 78, when Jesse Marcel, the base intelligence officer went public with the Stan Friedman and William Moore, they wrote the 1980 book Roswell incident.
