What's the Difference Between Old English and Old English?

Around 30% of the English vocabulary comes directly from Latin, and about 30% comes directly from French. The old English words that survived the past thousand years are the very simple common words that children tend to learn first. When we try as lawyers to speak in simple words, we tend to use older words from old English. But now they have a problem: Which word do you use? You've got an established language with an established legal meaning but it might not convey the same meaning across court.
