Hindu monks spend seven years getting rid of all of their possessions except for two gowns, a bowl and two spoons. Christ never told people don't own stuff; that's not the message of Christianity. So consumerism's goal is to take our wants and make them needs by taking things we'd like and making it something you got to have. We're called as human beings to care for each other.
