Why the Japanese Don't Eat Whale?
Whale is the Japanese equivalent of beef. It's something that people actually care about who are not just right wing cranks. The whaling sort of solves two things of of weaning Japan off of foreign food imports. So it can sort of be somewhat sovereign. Because the United States, it doesn't really matter the basis in Okinawa and elsewhere don't really matter as much as the fact that they import so much of their food from the United States or American allies. They could crush Japan in a day. But isn't that just like a surface feature? Like if Japan started eating meat again, they would still have all these other cultural problems.
