The Steak and the Inquisition
The steak is an upright pole usually made of wood and you're tied to it. Underneath is a pile of very very dry wood and a fire so you become a human bonfire essentially. The iron maiden was modeled after the Virgin Mary but had spikes within her embrace that would pierce into your body if you were not careful. A person burned at the stake could take up to two hours before they completely burned to death.
