My grandfather had never met anyone who really was a follower of Jesus. When there is no Christian culture around you, it frees you to actually believe what the Bible says. And he just kept reading the New Testament to learn how to be a follower ofJesus. He had no frame of reference. In reading the book of Acts, he realized the person of the Holy Spirit seems to be a pretty big deal in the New Testament. So he decided he'd do what he saw the disciples doing, that he would fast and pray until he received the baptism of the Spirit. But after 42 days nothing happened so he quit his fast.
