In the 1960s, rebellions were fomenting for quite a long time. I think with black lives matters you had a building narrative that brought together people who had been involved in a number of different kinds of social welfare and progressive institutions. That created a very strong and powerful kindling,. you might say, that was ignited by these particular events of a shooting or something else that happened that ignited earlier riots.
