The Relationship Between Inner and Outer

You write about how you had to withdraw in order to survive. You have, of course, really to live needs to engage with what is around you. I'll ask you another question and read a passage that has to do with this relation between inner and outer. It's the move from withdrawing from the world into being able to engage with the world. And you say, I'm not much of a singer, but I've always loved my mother's voice. Her voice was the most beautiful, warmest sound I'd ever known.
