The Cabinet of Curiosities
Desmond Doss was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery during World War II. The young Seventh-day Adventist spent hours dragging men to the edge of a cliff and lowering them down a makeshift rope sling that he had fashioned together himself. He survived despite being wounded by shrapnel from a Japanese grenade, but died in 2006 aged 87.
