Oil and Gas Companies Are Rolling in Windfall Taxes
Over the past year, lots of countries did bring in what we call windfall taxes on oil and gas companies. The idea is that a government brings it in when a company makes loads of money as a result of like random circumstances. Shell has just announced how much it has to pay for 2022 for this windfall tax. And it is a whopping $134 million, which is not 0.3% of that 40 billion in profit I told you about.
