The main disadvantage of using a high interest savings account versus a bond e t f is that, if interest trades drop in the future, you will out on some capital appreciation. Bonds have an inverse relationship with interest rates. So when interest trades drop, the value of your bonds go up, so you get a gain. But it works the other way too. If the interest trate goes up, which a lot of people believe they will, then your bonds will actually drop in value. And i'm not going to speculate on where interet straits are heading. No one really can.
