Parents need to get really, really clear about how they're contributing to the problem. The second step is you have to get really good about building your kid up and giving a lot of upfront connection so that they start to see themselves differently. And then third is when now you're ready for discipline. Discipline is really about teaching and training and equipping it's not about shaming and punishment.
