The Marshmallow Test by Michael Michel

In his 2014 book, The Marshmallow Test, Michel gave a more life and death example from his own experience. 50 years ago, he was a three-packer day smoker, and he knew he needed to stop. But it wasn't until he saw a patient at Stanford Hospital being wheeled out on a gurney that he was able to quit. It's a great example of something the Greek philosopher Plato taught almost 2500 years ago: knowing how to think about time, the past, the present and the future can save your life.
