The spirit of all creation is overcoming obstacles, trying to create something that you're enjoying and not beating yourself up about. I find the biggest problem, especially with like writer directors, is they become very control freaky about their words. Let them do whatever they want. You can throw it all out in the editing room, but let them feel like they're part of it. And I guarantee they're going to do stuff. That's funnier. It's more in the moment.
