The current levels of polarization, generated in significant part by our two party system make more contested elections more likely. In the longer run, you can imagine evolution into a hungary style one party state where republicans have changed the rules such that democrats can barely compete. None of these cenarios seem good to me and i think we got to do if we want to lessen the likelihood of disaster is to make some kind of reform,. which seems unthinkable now.
