The Million Approach to Philosophy

In a world where human beings are innately tribal, you think that the other person's point of view is explained by something about where they fit in. So when we try to understand objections or the arguments of others, it's not just because we're trying to be sort of empathetic to them in a sort of patronising way. It's because they will probably have something to tell us that we didn't know or that we hadn't thought of or we hadn't understood in the same way. Different experiences give different perspectives on the world and give different insights on truth if you want to put it in mill's terms - help us to understand the truth a bit better.
