I haven't come across any of that level of inheritance in the real world. You should absolutely be using local types that reflect what's going on locally, rather than trying to push a square peg through around whole. I think this speaks to what Richard just said, too, which is that was back in the days when memory was a constraint. And heck, what's immutability but just in certain more rows? Right.
