Durban: Republicans are politicizing this process to an incredible point. Too often it's just a partisan selection process, I see that every day in the committee. During the Trump years, 121 blue slips were set in by Democratic senators for nominees that came before the judiciary committee. But some Democratic senators used the blue slip to keep federal judicial spots vacant until there was a Democratic president. Some of those have been filled now. So I think it can be misused. And I've said I'll never stand by using the blue slip for purposes of discrimination based on race or gender or sexual orientation."
