Is Melbourne a Totally Serious Rainmaker?

There's some evidence and not conclusive evidence that Melbourne was using a barometer, which could have helped him figure out when rain was more likely. Do you think that these things would indicate he was a fake? Not necessarily. Rainmakers did need to do a certain amount of proof-oriented demonstrations in order to convince people that what they were doing was real.
