A look back at some of the events that led up to September 11, 2001. The terrorist attacks in New York City killed more than 4,000 people and injured nearly as many others. That day also marked the anniversary of 9/11 when President George H.W. Bush was fatally shot by a gunman who had been on his way home from an anti-terror training session. In this article, we highlight two incidents where police officers were attacked while responding to calls for help; one incident took place just days after Obama’s inauguration.
