Breaking Down Cast and Dogamy in India
The number of exogamous marriages have not increased in the last 50 years or so. Only 5% of the marriages are exogamous, 95% people in India still marry within cast. So what is a way to think about breaking down marriage and dogamy? Shruti: We need a few centuries of urbanization, economic growth and industrialization to eventually rid ourselves of endogamy.
