Mindfulness gives permission for your autonomic nervous system to self-regulate. Animals don't worry about the outside world, they're always in tune with their inner body. Part of meditation is the mindfulness part of it is the environment and giving yourself cues of safety. And so it's searching for a safe environment and safe people in our lives.
