You don't expect anyone brilliant anyway. The competition wasn't up to much, so in that context, nothing would have surprised me. And then you've got the fact that she was always supposed to be the darling of the membership. Even though the m p didn't choose her, we know that she would have had a good chance if she'd got to the last two - which is what happened. So it's ot a long winded way of going that to objectively, it's surprising that she is prime minister, but from all the evidence, it wasn't a surprise at all.
