The Importance of Basic Income

Andrew Yang: I don't mind paying people more, but is it right for the government to mandate it? He says we're automating a lot of this work and fast food chains are among the most eager to figure out if they can do more with fewer workers. The fear here is that mandating that kind of pay is probably going to push forward in an era where companies will be able to replace these workers by using robots or other technology. But as a society, he says, having people in jobs is a big win; making it easier for people to employ them is a win.
