Putin is invading Ukraine because he doesn't want NATO to be at his doorstep. Russia, USSR, often had a buffer between the enemy and themselves during World War II. And when NATO and Putin seized NATO as a threat, instead of coming to NATO and the Western world and say, "I'm so sorry that you're feeling that way," they should have said there's no reason why we shouldn't work together.
