In 1977, a year after the massive critical in box office success of all the President's men, Carl Bernstein left the Washington Post. He published a huge exposé on the CIA and the media in Rolling Stone. The Church Committee discovered evidence that some of America's most powerful media organizations regularly worked hand-in-glove with the CIA and other intelligence agencies. None of that stuff Deep Throat said about conspiracies ever got printed.
